| GRC Chapter Color Guard Commander, Terry A. Whetstone is pointing with his sword tip to the engraved name of Benjamin Bridge. Patriot Bridge (b. 10-13-1784, d. 4-17-1843) was a Private from New Jersey who fought in the Battles of Trenton (Dec. 26, 1777) and Princeton (Jan. 3, 1777). He is buried in Knob Prairie Cemetery in Clark County, Ohio outside the Village of Enon, OH. His name is engraved on one side of a double-sided, 6' long and 4' high, granite cemetery marker listing all those pioneers who settled in the Enon (Clark County), Ohio area and buried in this well-kept cemetery. His grave was marked with the 1776 Patriot Ancestor marker back in the 1980s by GRC Chapter. The marker was dedicated by a well-attended ceremony at this cemetery on May 18, 2008 and organized by the Enon Community Historical Society with GRCC Color Guard presenting the Colors and doing a musket salute for Private Bridge as well as War of 1812 veterans also buried there. All Civil War and later veterans are buried in the much larger and public Enon, OH Cemetery. |
