Background: Liberty Tavern in Powell was named after the original Liberty Tavern outside of Boston where in the mid 1700’s many of our forefathers, the Sons of Liberty, planned and executed the protests against the British government which ultimately led to the American Revolution. The first major overt protest occurred on August 14, 1765 in Boston. On August 14, 1769, a great feast and celebration took place at the original Liberty Tavern in commemoration of that protest. So it is that Liberty Tavern in Powell will honor the forefathers and their sacrifices for the cause of Liberty on Saturday, August 14, 2010 with the 3nd annual Liberty Day Celebration. Guests can come and go anytime between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM and later, enjoy dinner and drinks just like a normal operating night. No reservations will be taken. Liberty
